Nancy DePalma began her career at two prestigious New York City publishing houses, learning the ropes in the publicity and marketing departments. Whether it was arranging reviews and author appearances, handling logistics for multi-city book tours, or working on a top secret book launch party for Salman Rushdie (still under fatwa), she mastered the ins and outs of marketing books. While working toward a full-time freelance career, Nancy was selected by travel industry veteran Valerie Wilson to co-author a coffee table book on the world’s top resorts. It was the perfect marriage of her love for the written word and her passion for travel, and during the two-year project, her research took her to various spots across the globe.

 As someone who always liked offering advice, sharing tips, and telling people where to go, she decided to focus her attention on travel and food/dining. She has contributed to over 35 guidebooks and she exclusively wrote the features for all 3, 4, and 5 star hotels in the United States for Mobil Travel Guides for several years. She authored two editions of America’s Best Hotel & Resort Spas, two editions of America’s Best Hotels & Restaurants, and contributed to Where to Eat Boston/Cape Cod. She was tapped to contribute to the first Michelin Red Guide published in the United States (New York 2007) and has been a regular contributor to the New York City, Chicago, and San Francisco Michelin Red Guides since. Nancy also completed the second and expanded edition of Valerie Wilson’s World with Ms. Wilson in 2012 and worked with U.S. News & World Report on the Best Hotels list in 2015/2016.

 While consulting for one of the largest independently owned travel consulting firms in the United States, Nancy traveled like an A-lister at some of the world’s poshest resorts. On the flip side, she has also traveled, dined, and even spa-ed undercover to see what a place is really like when they think nobody is watching.  

Nancy’s “Eats” column, a collection of reviews and news about Connecticut’s dining scene, was awarded “best column” in 2013 by the CT Press Club.  In addition to writing articles for print and digital outlets, Nancy is the editor of NJ Meetings + Events magazine and PA Meetings + Events magazine. Born and raised in New Jersey, Nancy has lived up and down the East Coast but returned with her family to the Garden State in 2013.
